The research of everyday life of Saint- Petersburg citizens in 1993-2001

Abstract: 
The paper presents a short description of two international projects (in cooperation with Finnish researchers), that were carried out by Sector of Social Structure’s Investigation in 1993-2001. Both projects were devoted to the investigation of influence of transition from socialistic to market economy on everyday life of urban population at the different stages of market formation. Aims and objectives of these projects, methodology of data collection, short characteristics of received empirical data and main conclusions are presented in this paper. Based on the results of these projects it was concluded that the official market economy gained significant importance in the economic behavior of urban households in Russia.
