Abstract:
An analysis of methodological approaches to the study and measurement of selfassessment of health has been carried out, and tools have been developed that are most relevant for studying the health of people aged 60 years and older. The WHOQOL-26 method, a standardized Russian version of WHOQOL-BREF, was recognized as the most methodologically correct in terms of assessing subjective feelings regarding their health by respondents in older age groups. Using the example of the Grodno region, an analysis of satisfaction with the health status of this category of respondents was carried out, the dependence of POPs on gender, place of residence, availability of work, marital status, presence of children, living with their children together or separately, and receipt of a pension was investigated. It was found that there are three clear ranking places (p < 0.05) in the structure of answers, which correspond to the following points for assessing satisfaction with one’s own health on a five-point scale: the first place corresponds to the answer option “3 points”. Respondents are insignificantly more likely (52.44%) to rate their satisfaction with their own health as average and below average (1-3 points). The indicator of satisfaction with one’s own health revealed significant resistance to socio-demographic factors. A comparison with previously published research results in the Russian population has shown that poor self-assessments of health among people in older age groups in the Grodno region correlate with those in the Russian Federation, while the proportion of good self-assessments significantly exceeds the corresponding indicators for Russians.
